GRANVILLE -- The Ohio Northern baseball team dropped both games of a double header by a 12-1 and 5-4 score on Saturday afternoon at Big Red Field.
ONU is now 6-6 on the season and Denison is 4-6.
In Game 2, senior Austin Price pitched six innings, giving up three runs and striking out nine, all while earning a no decision.
Freshman Nick Eltzroth paced Northern offensively, going 2-for-5 and driving in two runs.
ONU got on the board first, in the third inning in Game 2.
Sophomore Jack LaMarca reached on a fielders choice and advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt.
After a walk, sophomore Dan Belliveau singled, scoring LaMarca and putting ONU up 1-0.
In the seventh, LaMarca singled with one out and stole second.
Belliveau and senior Cory Martin both walked and Eltzroth ripped a single to score LaMarca and Belliveau.
Senior Kevin Obarski would follow with a single to score Martin, putting the Polar Bears up 4-0.
Denison would respond in the bottom half of the seventh with five runs, to jump in front 5-4.
The Polar Bears were retired in order in the eighth and ninth.
In Game 1, Denison struck for seven runs in the second inning to open up an early 7-0 lead.
The Big Red tacked on three more runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh inning.
Northern scored its lone run of the game, when freshman Reed Allen ripped a single to right center that scored senior Devin Kisor.
Tom Duxbury (1-1) went eight innings for the Big Red, giving up one run on seven hits and striking out six.
Eltzroth took the loss for ONU and falls to 1-1 on the season.
The Polar Bears will play at Denison again on Sunday at 1 pm, before returning home on Tuesday to face off against Albion (Mich.) at 4 pm.
