ADA — The Ohio Northern baseball team fell to Bluffton by a score of 13-3 at Wander Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears drop to 8-4 on the season while the Beavers improve to 7-7 overall.
Freshman Josh Murphy (Kettering Fairmont) led the way offensively for ONU, going 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Bluffton picked up three runs in the first inning, and neither team picked up another hit until the fifth inning.
ONU got on the board in the fifth when senior Adam Yunker (Holland/Toledo Christian) singled and scored on a Murphy double, cutting the lead to 3-1.
Sophomore Cory Martin (Akron/Ellet) also had a clutch two-run double in the sixth to keep the Polar Bears in contention before Bluffton broke it open.
The Beavers would score ten runs over the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to push the lead to 13-3.
Freshman Andrew Tople (Indianapolis, Ind./New Palestine) threw two scoreless innings, striking out three batters, and sophomore Shane Parks (Boardman) increased his scoreless inning streak to 13.0 with a scoreless ninth inning.
ONU will return to action Saturday as it hosts OSU-Lima in a doubleheader at Wander Field, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
