Baseball drops pair to Adrian, Franklin on Day 1 of Tri-State Classic

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Ohio Northern baseball team fell to Adrian (Mich.) and Franklin (Ind.) Saturday afternoon at the Tri-State Classic.
The Polar Bears (4-5) fell to Adrian 12-1 in the first game and dropped a 10-3 decision to host Franklin in the nightcap.
Against Adrian, Ohio Northern had 10 hits but managed only one run, hitting into five double plays.
Matt Hampshire went 3 for 4 and Erik Stegman was 2 for 3 to lead ONU.
Adam Yunker had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth to put Northern up 3-2 against Franklin, but the Grizzlies (6-4) scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 8-3 lead.
Yunker and Brett Katana each had a pair of hits to lead the ONU offense.
The Polar Bears will wrap up play in the Tri-State Classic on Sunday with an 11 am contest against Adrian and a 2:30 pm contest against Franklin.
