ADA — Senior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) had a career-high 28 kills as the Ohio Northern volleyball team ground out a 25-16, 27-15, 22-25, 27-25 victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

  • Wagner reached the 20-kill mark for the fifth time this season and hit .333 to lead the Polar Bears.
  • Sophomore Olivia Baumann (Eaton) added 11 kills and a .320 hitting percentage
  • Senior Sonia Dahlin (Minnetonka, Minn.) and freshman Summer Hoying (Fort Loramie) added seven kills each.
  • Senior Lauren James (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) had a team-high 5 blocks to go with five kills.
  • Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had a season-high 41 assists.
  • Senior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a team-leading 24 digs.
  • Heidelberg was led by Lexi Wachtman and Sophia Simon with 11 kills each. 
  • The Polar Bears hit .204 for the match with 64 kills, while the Student Princes hit .239 with 62 kills in the match.

 Notables

  • Ohio Northern leads the all-time series against HU by a 65-12 margin. ONU is 28-1 at home in the series.
  • James is now 9th all-time in ONU history with 326 total blocks and is 11th with 77 block solos in 95 career matches.
  • Jennings played in her 100th career match. She now has 1,907 career digs and remains No. 5 on ONU's all-time top 10 list in that category.
  • Jennings entered the 2024 season ranked eighth nationally in digs among active Division III players.
  • Conrad is eighth on ONU's all-time career assist list with 2,323 in 99 career matches. 
  • Wagner now ranks fifth all-time in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percentage, hitting .332 in 95 career matches.
  • She also has 1,133 career kills and needs just 43 more to crack ONU's top-10 career list in the category.
  • Sophie Windover is now 32-15 in her two seasons as head coach of the ONU volleyball team, a winning percentage of .681.
