Volleyball wraps up Great Lakes Cross Over with sweeps of Hiram, Chatham (Pa.)

CEDAR POINT — Ohio Northern wrapped up its competition in the 2024 Great Lakes Cross Over tournament with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of Hiram and a 25-10, 25-15, 25-15 swwep of Chatham (Pa.) on Saturday.

• Records: Ohio Northern (3-1 Overall), Hiram (1-2 Overall), Chatham, (Pa.) (0-4 Overall).

Match Highlights v Hiram

• Senior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) had a match-high 13 kills and hit a team-best .550 for the match.
• Senior Lauren James (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) added nine kills and five blocks.
• Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had 20 assists.
• Senior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a team-best 10 digs.
• Hiram was led by Emily Richardson with 10 kills.
• Ohio Northern's offense was in high gear all match, as the squad hit .400 or better in each of the three sets.
• The Polar Bears hit .418 with 49 kills in just 91 attempts, while the Terriers hit .200 with 32 kills.

• Wagner led ONU with eight kills and hit .467 in the match.
• James had six kills in just seven attempts and hit .714 for the match.
• Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had 14 assists.
• Senior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a team-best 10 digs.
• Chatham was led by Zoie Bateman with 9 kills.
• The Polar Bears hit .342 with 35 kills, while the Cougars hit .047 with 24 kills.

Notables

• ONU is 15-1 all-time against HC and is 2-0 all-time against CU.
• Jennings now has 1,626 career digs, and moved up to No. 9 on ONU's all-time top 10 list in that category.
• Jennings entered the 2024 season ranked eighth nationally in digs among active Division III players.
• Conrad moved up to eighth on ONU's all-time career assist list with 1,920 in 82 career matches. 
• Wagner ranks seventh all-time in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percentage, hitting .308 in 76 career matches.
• Sophie Windover is now 19-11 in her second season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team.
