Wagner drills 19 kills, leads Volleyball to four-set victory over John Carroll in quarterfinals of OAC Tournament

ADA — Junior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) had a match-high 19 kills and hit .457 to lead the fourth-seeded Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 25-21, 12-25, 25-20, 25-22 victory over fifth-seeded John Carroll in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

- Wagner's 19 kills came with only three errors on 35 attacks. She also had four blocks in the match.
- Senior Ava Ehlinger (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) had 10 kills with 13 digs.
- Junior Lauren James (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) had 10 kills and a team-high 5 blocks.
- Junior Sonia Dahlin (Minnetonka, Minn.) had 7 kills.
- Sophomore Caroline Hensley (Loveland/Bishop Fenwick) had a team-best 20 assists.
- Junior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had a match-high 23 digs for the Polar Bears.
- Senior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had 19 assists.
- In the opening set, ONU used a 7-1 run to break a 14-all tie and take a 21-15 advantage. JCU oulled within 21-18, but would get no closer as the hosts would go up 1-0.
- In Set 2, the Blue Streaks jumped to a 7-1 lead and eventually led 18-6.
- Ohio Northern rallied in Set 3, going on an 8-1 run to grab an early 9-5 lead. Again JCU tied the match at 14-all, only to see the Polar Bears score the next five points to go up 19-14.
- In the final set, JCU led 15-9 before a 10-1 Polar Bear run gave the hosts a 19-16 advantage. The visitors got within 22-21, but two kills by senior Kaidie Carstensen (Raymond/Fairbanks) had two kills and Wagner ended the match with her 19th kill of the match.
- The Polar Bears hit .199 with 53 kills, while the Blue Streaks hit .206 with 57 kills.

- Ohio Northern is now 75-16 all-time in 39 appearances in the OAC Tournament. ONU has won 22 OAC Tournament titles and has reached the finals 35 times in school history.
- Jennings has 1,589 career digs, and is now #10 ONU's all-time top 10 in that category.
- Conrad has 1,818 career assists. She ranks ninth in ONU's top-10 list in the category.
- Wagner ranks seventh all-time in ONU's top-10 list for hitting percentage, hitting .307 in 73 career matches.
- Sophie Windover is now 17-9 in her first season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team.
