SANDUSKY — The Ohio Northern volleyball team closed out its two-day, four-game slate at the Great Lakes Cross Over with a 3-1 win over Hiram and a 3-2 victory over Bethany (W.Va.) on Saturday at Cedar Point.
The Polar Bears defeated Hiram 25-11, 16-25, 25-10, 25-22 Saturday morning and topped Bethany 25-16, 17-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10 in the afternoon.

ONU v Hiram match
- Junior Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) led ONU with 16 kills to go with 15 from senior Ava Ehlinger (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) and 10 from senior Kaidie Carstensen (Raymond/Fairbanks).
- Carstensen hit a team-best .471.
- Junior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had 37 assists and 14 digs, and junior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) added 12 assists and 28 digs.
- ONU hit .263 with 62 kills, while the Terriers hit .150 with 36 kills
ONU v Bethany match
- Wagner tallied 19 kills to lead four Polar Bears in double figures in that category while hitting a team-best .366.
- Carstensen and Ehlinger had 12 kills each, and junior Sonia Dahlin (Minnetonka, Minn.) added 10. Ehlinger also had 18 digs.
- Conrad had 47 assists and 13 digs, and Jennings added five assists and 34 digs.
- Wagner and junior Lauren James (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led ONU with four blocks each.
- Northern closed the fifth set on a 9-3 scoring run to clinch the match.
- ONU hit .235 with 61 kills, while the Bison hit .171 with 56 kills.
Notables
- The Polar Bears are off to a 4-0 start to the season. ONU opened the 2021 season with nine consecutive victories.
- Wagner led the team with 35 kills on the day.
- Sophie Windover improved to 4-0 in her first season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team.
