Wagner leads Volleyball with 14 kills in three-set loss to Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team dropped a 25-22, 25-18, 25-18 decision at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears fall to 15-8 overall and are 5-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 12-11, 3-5.
Sophomore Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) led ONU with 14 kills and a .267 hitting percentage.
Northern opened the match on a 9-1 run, but BW battled back and pulled even at 16-all. The hosts broke a 21-all tie by scoring four of the last five points to take the opening set.
A 4-0 run in Set 2 gave Baldwin Wallace a 17-12 lead en route to a 25-18 win.
ONU jumped to a 5-1 lead in the final set, only to have BW go on a 14-4 run to go ahead 15-9. The hosts then held on for a 25-18 win and a sweep.
Sophomore Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) finished with a team-high 14 digs for ONU, and sophomore Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) dished out 25 assists.
For the match, ONU hit .107 with 34 kills and 21 errors on 122 attacks, while the Yellow Jackets hit .222 with 41 kills and 17 errors on 108 attacks.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season on Saturday when they host a tri-match with Marietta and Chicago (Ill.) at the ONU Sports Center.
