ADA —The No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team swept a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference matches from Wilmington on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
Junior Melina Woods (Ada) and senior Hope Williamson (Noblesville, Ind./Heritage Christian) led a strong offensive attack for the Polar Bears (6-2 overall, 6-2 OAC).
Woods hit .355 with 16 kills and five errors on 31 attacks and Williamson hit .667 with 12 kills on 18 attacks for ONU.
Victoria Long had eight kills in the two matches for the Quakers (0-8, 0-8).
Ohio Northern won the opener 25-12, 25-13, 25-9 behind 13 kills from Woods, six (on eight attempts) from Williamson and six from freshman Sydney Eggleton (Southfield, Mich./Farmington).
Northern hit .377 on 39 kills with 10 errors on 77 attempts, while Wilmington hit -.038 on 15 kills and 18 errors on 79 attempts.
Junior setter Kiki Carle (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) had seven kills and 30 assists to lead ONU in the second match, a 25-16, 25-18, 25-4 victory.
ONU hit .361 with 39 kills, nine errors and 83 attempts. WC hit -.023 with 18 kills and 20 errors on 88 attacks.
The Polar Bears will take to the road for a pair of matches at John Carroll on Friday night.
