Volleyball posts 4-set win at area-rival Bluffton

BLUFFTON — The Ohio Northern volleyball team posted a 25-13, 25-19, 17-25, 25-11 victory at area-rival Bluffton Tuesday night at the Sommer Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-3, while the Beavers fall to 9-5.
Senior Ashley Borchers had a double-double to lead ONU, registering 12 kills and dishing out 36 assists.
Freshman Haley Potters had a team-high 13 kills and freshman Sydney Fecko added 12 kills for the Polar Bears, who hit an impressive .319 for the match.
Northern controlled play in the first, second and fourth sets.
In Set 1, ONU went on an early 6-0 run to take a 10-5 lead. A 7-0 run later in the set game Northern a commanding 23-12 lead.
The Polar Bears jumped to a 6-0 lead in the second set, taking advantage of four BU attack errors.
The Beavers would pull within 20-18, but ONu would score five of the last six points to win the set 25-19.
Bluffton would turn the tables in Set 3, and went on a 9-0 run to snap an 8-all tie, en route to the 25-17 win.
The fourth set was all Ohio Northern as the visitors used three separate 5-0 runs to go ahead 22-7 and win the match.
BU was led by Lauren Weisgarber with 14 kills.
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday with four matches at the OAC/HCAC Challenge at Hanover, Ind.
