HANOVER, Ind. — Ohio Northern claimed its second volleyball tournament title in as many weekends, finishing the Hanover (Ind.) Invitational with a 4-0 record after victories over Spalding (Ky.) and Bethany (W.Va.) on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (8-1) are now a perfect 8-0 in regular season tournament play this season after winning the 34th annual ONU Invitational last weekend.
Freshman Kaitlann Hogrefe had 15 kills, freshman Ellie Gillespie had 13 kills and senior Ellen Grenert had 11 kills as ONU wrapped up the tournament with a 25-18, 22-25, 25-15, 25-19 victory over Bethany (6-3) Saturday afternoon.
Senior Kelsie Zumberger dished out 40 assists and junior Jeni Kmic had a career-high 34 digs for the Polar Bears.
In the first match of the day, junior Kristen Davidson had 15 kills, Gillespie had 11 kills and 23 digs and junior Julie Fuerst had nine kills and four blocks as ONU topped Spalding 25-14, 25-10, 19-25, 25-16 Saturday morning.
Zumberger had 38 assists and Kmic had 26 digs for Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday at 7 pm with a non-conference road match at Denison.
