Women's Tennis splits on Saturday, defeats Grove City (Pa.), falls to No. 16 Case Western Reserve

STOW — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team split a pair of matches indoors on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears opened the day with a 7-0 win over Grove City (Pa.), then fell to No. 16-ranked Case Western Reserve 7-0.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (10-3 Overall), Grove City (11-4 Overall), Case Western Reserve (8-2 Overall).

Match 1 - ONU 7, GCC 0
- Northern won the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles courts, then won all six singles courts to grab the victory.
- Juniors Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) and each went 2-0 to lead the Polar Bears.
- Bell won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and combined with freshman Caroline Robinson (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) to win 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
- Hurst won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and combined with senior Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) to win 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
- Senior Miranda Wills (Ada) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
- Senior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
- Freshman Molly McLane (Westerville/Big Walnut) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
- Junior Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and freshman Leah Schleibaum (West Chester/Lakota West) won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
- Freshman Lauren Okrainec (Ingersoll, ON, Canada/Homeschool) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
Match 2 - CWR 7, ONU 0
- The No. 16-ranked Spartans swept all nine courts.
- Okrainec was outstanding at No. 1 singles, battling No. 38-ranked Lily McCloskey to a 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 decision at No. 1 singles.
