The Ohio Northern women's tennis team continued its spring break trip with a 6-1 victory over Seton Hill (Pa.) and a tight 4-3 loss to Connecticut College on Tuesday.

The Basics

  • Junior Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
  • Junior Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
  • Senior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
  • Sophomore Molly McLane (Westerville/Big Walnut) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
  • The Griffins' lone victory came at No. 4 singles.

Match 2 - ONU 3, CC 4

  • The Camels won the doubles point by taking courts 1 and 2, then won three of the six singles courts.
  • Okrainec and senior Miranda Wills (Ada) won at No. 3 doubles 6-2.
  • Hurst won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
  • Cruser followed with a 0-6, 7-5, 10-7 win at No. 3 singles to tie the match at 2-2.
  • Bell won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and the match was tied at 3-all.
  • CC then won the deciding match 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to grab the match 4-3.

Notables

  • Cruser leads the team this season with a 14-3 singles record, with Hurst second at 12-4.
  • Wills and Robinson each have a team-best nine wins in doubles play.
  • Cruser leads the team with an 20-12 overall record, with Bell right behind at 19-13.
