Jamie Hurst posts 4-1 record, leads Women's Tennis at Denison Big Red Invitational

GRANVILLE — Junior Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) posted a 4-1 record to lead the Ohio Northern women's tennis team at the Denison Big Red Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (0-0 Overall)
• Venue: Denison Tennis Courts - Granville, Ohio.
• The tournament did not have any team scoring.
• There were five teams competing, and most players had three singles matches and two doubles contests.

Singles Highlights

• Hurst, sophomore Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and freshman Lauren Okrainec (Ingersoll, ON, Canada/Homeschool) each went 2-1 in singles play to lead the Polar Bears.
• ONU players recorded an 11-14 singles record in the tournament.

Doubles Highlights

• Hurst and freshman Leah Schleibaum (West Chester/Lakota West) each went 2-0 in doubles play.
• The pair combined for one victory as a team.
• Hurst got her second win with Okrainec and Schleibaum paired with senior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/St. John) for her other win.
• Ohio Northern teams posted a 6-4 doubles record.

• This is the second of three tournaments in which ONU will compete during its fall schedule. 
• Third-year head coach Sean Swisher is 34-11 at the helm of the ONU women's tennis team, a winning percentage of .756.
