Abby Cruser leads Women's Tennis at ITA Central Regionals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team competed in the three-day ITA Central Regional Championships over the weekend. The event featured both singles and doubles competitions.

Singles Highlights
- In the A flight, sophomore Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) won 6-3, 6-0 in her opening-round match before falling 1-6, 2-6 to ninth-ranked Allaire Berl of Kenyon in the round of 32.
- In the B Red flight, sophomore Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) won the consolation finals via a withdrawal from Maria Hayes of Transylvania (Ky.). After falling 3-8 to 16th-ranked Ana Brand of Kenyon in the round of 16, Cruser won 8-0 over Claire Hannaford of Anderson (Ind.) and 8-1 over Kylie Chitwood of Webster (Mo.) to advance to the consolation finals.
- In the B Yellow flight, junior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-2 over Veronica Saunders of Franciscan in the round of 16 before falling 2-6, 2-6 to third-ranked Anna Kan of Case Western Reserve in the round of 8.
Doubles Highlights
- The pairing of Sheldon and sophomore Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) won 8-4 in the round of 64 before falling 1-8 in the round of 16. They then fell 6-8 in the consolation round of 32.
- After falling 4-8 in the round of 64, the pairing of Bell and Cruser adanced to the consolation round of 8 before withdrawing. They won 8-6 in the round of 32 and 8-4 in the round of 16.
