Women’s Tennis defeats Capital 9-0 on Senior Day

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday with a 9-0 win over Capital at the West Campus Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Comets to 8-7, 3-3.
Northern opened play by sweeping all three doubles courts.
Freshmen Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) won 8-4 at No. 1, freshman Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) and sophomore Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-0 at No. 2, and junior Olivia Kesner (Lima/Central Catholic) and senior Flo Sanchez (West Chester/Lakota West) won 8-4 at No. 3.
The Polar Bears wrapped up the match by winning all six singles courts.
Cruser won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1, Hurst won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, Bell won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, senior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) won by retirement at No. 4 after taking the opening set 6-1, Kesner won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and sophomore Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears return to action on Tuesday hosting Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m.
