Freshman Jamie Hurst named OAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of March 13-19.
This is Hurst's first career OAC Player of the Week accolade.
The recognition comes after Hurst went a perfect 9-0 in her matches to lead the Polar Bears to a 5-0 record on their spring break trip in Florida. She was 4-0 at No. 2 singles and 5-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Hurst won 6-3, 6-3 in singles and 8-2 in doubles in an 8-1 victory over Coe (Iowa); 7-6, 6-2 in singles and 6-0 in doubles in a 7-0 victory over Bentley (Mass.); 6-2, 6-0 in singles and 8-4 in doubles in a 7-2 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.); 6-4, 6-2 in singles and 8-3 in doubles in a 6-3 victory over Springfield (Mass.); and 8-7(6) in doubles in a 5-4 victory over Macalester (Minn.).
Hurst is now 14-11 overall on the season, including 6-6 in singles play and 8-5 in doubles.
The Polar Bears (8-3 overall) return to action on Saturday when they host Marietta to open Ohio Athletic Conference play.
