Women's Tennis edged at Ohio Wesleyan 5-4

DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team was edged 5-4 at Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday indoors at Gordon Field House.
The Polar Bears (17-5 overall) were led by sixth-year senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) and junior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord), who were responsible for three of the four ONU points.
The pair won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles as ONU entered singles play down 2-1.
Curry won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Landis won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to put Northern ahead 3-2.
The Battling Bishops (7-12) got wins at Nos. 1 and 4 singles to regain a 4-3 lead.
Freshman Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to tie the match at 4-all.
But the hosts won the ninth and deciding point, claiming a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, to grab the victory.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season on Saturday when they play host to John Carroll in a key Ohio Athletic Conference match up at the West Campus Courts.
