Women's Tennis opens spring break trip with tight 5-4 victory over Covenant (Ga.)

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a 5-4 victory over Covenant (Ga.) on Monday at the USTA Clay Courts.
The Polar Bears (9-3) were also leading Cornell (Iowa) 4-0 Monday night when the match was suspended due to rain.
The Scots fall to 4-5 on the year.
Freshman Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and joined junior Flo Sanchez (West Chester/Lakota West) to win 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to go 2-0 on the day.
Northern also got a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles by junior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) and a 6-1, 6-6 (retired) win at No. 6 singles by senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda).
ONU led 2-1 after doubles as junior Jeorgia Templin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and freshman Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday with matches against Marywood (Pa.) and Bethel (Ind.) at Sanlando Park at Altamonte Springs, Fla.
