Women's Tennis edged by Otterbein 5-3 in OAC Tournament semifinals

MASON — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team put up a valiant fight, but ultimately fell to Otterbein 5-3 in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday.
The second-seeded Polar Bears end their season at 8-2 overall, while the third-seeded Cardinals improve to 7-2 and will face top-seeded John Carroll in the finals on Saturday.
Senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and combined with sophomore Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) to win 8-7(4) at No. 3 doubles to complete a perfect 19-0 season.
Play was delayed for 1:06 near the end of doubles, which forced the teams to move indoors to the Queen City Tennis Center for the finish of doubles and all of the singles play.
After play resumed, OU won at No. 2 doubles and ONU won at No. 3 doubles to give OU a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Otterbein then won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to take a 4-1 lead.
Senior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 to make it 4-2 and Curry won her match 6-2, 6-0 at make it 4-3.
Landis and OU's Jordyn Traxler played an epic match at No. 3 singles, with Traxler edging Dodson 6-2, 0-6, 7-6(3) to clinch the match.
