Women's Tennis sweeps Muskingum 9-0; Wills becomes all-time career wins leader

ZANESVILLE — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team stayed undefeated on the 2021 season with a 9-0 victory at Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at Zanesville High School.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-0 overall and are 5-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Muskies fall to 0-4, 0-4.
Senior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) became ONU's all-time career wins leader with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles with sophomore Jeorgia Templin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern).
In her five seasons as a Polar Bear, Wills is now 173-49 overall in her career, surpassing the previous record of 172 wins set by Meghan Letizia from 2012-16.
Wills is also now just four doubles wins shy of Letizia's record of 89 and is already ONU's all-time career singles wins leader with 88.
Junior Ola Latala (Grosse Isle, Mich.) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and combined with freshman Olivia Kesner (Lima/Central Catholic) to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) and sophomore Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Landis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Templin won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles to join Latala as double-winners on the day.
Senior Jordan Dodson (Worthington) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, freshman Mykaela Schriber (Kenton) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and sophomore Flo Sanchez (West Chester/Lakota West) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at Mount Union.
