Wednesday's Match: The Ohio Northern women's tennis team will continue its abbreviated 2021 season on Wednesday with a 3:30 pm conference contest at Otetrbein at the Otterbein Tennis Courts ... A limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend the games based on the OAC's COVID-19 policy ... Each player will receive two admissions each game ... No tickets will be available to the general public ... ONU improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAc with an 8-1 win at Capital on Friday ... Junior Ola Latala won by default at No.1 singles joined with freshman Olivia Kesner to win at No. 1 doubles 8-4 ... Kesner also won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles ... Senior Mackenzie Wills won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, senior Katie Curry won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and senior Jordan Dodson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles ... Wills and sophomore Jeorgia Templin won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and Curry and sophomore Regan Landis (won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles ... Wills is ONU's all-time career singles wins leader with 85 ... She is also second all-time at ONU with a career record of 167-48 and is third all-time with an 83-30 mark in doubles matches ... Curry ranks 8th all-time in ONU history with a 137-53 career record ... She also ranks fourth all-time in ONU history with a singles mark of 76-20 ... The Cardinals are rebuilding after losing five seniors from last year's squad that was 10-1 before being shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic ... OU opened its 2021 season with a 9-0 win at Muskingum on Friday ... Standout newcomer Erin Storrer, a local Westerville product that decided to stay close to home, will spearhead the lineup from day one and likely be followed by junior Madi Mueller ... Head Coach Scott Wills: Wills is in his 20th season at the helm of the ONU women's tennis program … He currently stands first in coaching victories among all active Ohio college tennis coaches (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA) and is the winningest coach in school history with a 384-102 (.790) record, including a 143-15 (.905) mark in regular season conference competition … He has also coached the program to eight regular season conference crowns and six OAC Tournament titles ... He was recently recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as one of the top 10 all-time winning women's tennis coaches in the nation.
