Women's Tennis stays undefeated in OAC play at 6-0 with 8-1 victory at Capital

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team remained undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference play with an 8-1 victory at Capital on Wednesday afternoon at Whetstone Park of Roses Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 18-4 and are on top of the OAC standings with a 6-0 record, while the Crusaders fall to 7-9, 3-4.
With the victory, ONU clinches a top-4 seed and a quarterfinal home match in the OAC Tournament April 30.
Northern took a 3-0 lead after doubles, sweeping the three courts by a combined 24-5 score.
Freshmen Olivia Schrager (Dayton/Miami Valley) and Abigail Staskiewicz (Mars, Pa./Oakland Catholic) won 8-2 at No. 1, senior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) won 8-0 at No. 2 and juniors Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) and Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) won 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles play, ONU won five of the six courts to clinch the match.
Ochsenhirt won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1, Schrager won 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 at No. 2, Wills won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4, Staskiewicz won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 and Curry won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears will take a week off before traveling to Otterbein for a battle of OAC unbeatens on April 24.
