Women's Tennis sweeps Capital in OAC battle, falls to NCAA Division I foe Wright State

MIAMISBURG — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept Capital 9-0 on Sunday evening at the South Regency Tennis Club.
The Polar Bears (12-4 overall, 2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) began their day with a 7-0 loss to NCAA Division I foe Wright State at South Regency on Sunday afternoon.
Against the Crusaders (1-9, 0-2) senior Lynn Kelly (Mason) and sophomore Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) each went 2-0 with sweeps in singles and doubles action to lead ONU.
Kelly won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and combined with freshman Macey Camacho (Hartville/Lake) to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Curry won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and joined sophomore Mackenzie Wills (Ada) to win 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Junior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) and sophomore Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
In other singles play, Wills won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, Cummins won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, Ochsenhirt won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and sophomore Jordan Dodson (Worthington) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.
Against the Raiders (12-9), Ochsenhirt battled hard by holding serve several times against her Division I opponent before falling 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to lead ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday afternoon with a 1 pm home contest against Mount Union.
