Women's Tennis posts fourth consecutive victory with 8-1 win over Emerson (Mass.)

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team defeated Emerson (Mass.) to post its fourth straight victory on Wednesday evening at the USTA National Tennis Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The Polar Bears improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Lions drop to 2-6.
Sophomore Katie Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) led the way for Northern with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 5 singles.
The Polar Bears got off to a solid start after winning two of the three doubles matches as junior Ashley Ochsenhirt (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) teamed up with senior Lynn Kelly (Mason) to post an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Curry and sophomore Mackenzie Wills (Ada) picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 2 singles to help Northern take a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
At No. 1 singles, Ochsenhirt posted a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Kelly was victorious at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-0.
Sophomore Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) won 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Wills would take No. 4 singles by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-0.
Sophomore Jordan Dodson (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) completed the 8-1 victory at No. 6 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Northern will wrap up its spring break trip tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. as it takes on Coe (Iowa) at Sanlando Park in Altamonte, Florida.
