Women's Tennis drops tight match to Otterbein in semifinals of OAC Tournament

MASON — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team saw its 2016 season come to an end with a tight 5-2 loss to Otterbein in the semifinals of the OAC Tournament on a beautiful Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The second-seeded Polar Bears end their season with a 19-4 record, while the third-seeded Cardinals advance to Saturday's finals to play top-seeded John Carroll with an 18-3 record.
Sophomore Lynn Kelly and senior Taryn Stromback won at No. 1 doubles 8-2 to start the match, but Otterbein won Nos. 2 and 3 doubles 8-3 and 8-6 to take a 2-1 lead.
After the Cardinals won at Nos. 4 and 5 singles to go up 4-1, Kelly won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to make it 4-2.
Stromback (6-1, 5-4) and senior Meghan Letizia (6-3, 5-3) were on the verge of winning their singles matches at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, when Otterbein closed out the match with a win at No. 6 singles.
