Women's Tennis opens Spring season with 9-0 victory over Concordia (Mich.)

LIMA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened the Spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule with a 9-0 victory over Concordia (Mich.) Tuesday afternoon inside at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Cardinals fall to 1-9.
Northern swept the doubles matches to get off to a quick 3-0 lead.
Seniors Taryn Stromback and sophomore Morgan McGlothlin won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles to start the match.
Senior Meghan Letizia and junior Brittany Toney won at No. 1 doubles 8-1 and senior Elise Smith and sophomore Kirsten Adamson won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Stromback and Letizia also posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles.
Smith made it 6-0 ONU with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles and Toney made it 7-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Adamson won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and McGlothlin wrapped up he match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
"It was good to start our spring season with a win," ONU head coach Scott Wills said. "But the season is a marathon, not a sprint. We have many things to work on and we will continue to improve. But today's win was nice."
The Polar Bears will return to action Feb. 20 against Adrian (Mich.) at the Westwood Tennis & Racquet Club.
