ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory at Mount Union on Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 9-3 overall and are 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the Purple Raiders fall to 7-4, 1-1.
Freshman Lynn Kelly and junior Taryn Stromback got ONU off to a good start winning 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Senior Michelle Tuma and junior Meghan Letizia gave the Polar Bears a 2-1 lead after doubles play with an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot.
Northern then won five of the six singles matches to ice the victory.
Letizia had the most impressive singles win, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4.
Kelly won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, junior Christina Corbean won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, Stromback won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and sophomore Brittany Toney won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears will return to action April 1 at Ohio Wesleyan.
