Women's Tennis downs 15th-ranked Pima (Ariz.) Community College 6-3

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Arizona with a 6-3 victory at Pima (Ariz.) Community College on Thursday.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-1 on the season and extend their winning streak to four matches.
The Aztecs are ranked No. 15 nationally among community colleges in the US.
Juniors Meghan Letizia and Taryn Stromback and freshman Lynn Kelly each posted 2-0 records in the match.
Letizia won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and joined with senior Michelle Tuma to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Kelly won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Stromback won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and the duo combined for a 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles
Sophomore Brittany Toney also posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
During player introductions Dr. Metta Lou Henderson, Ohio Nothern faculty emeritus, was named an honorary captain for the match and recognized for her dedicated service and volunteerism for Ohio Northern University and Pima Community College.
Dr. Henderson retired from Ohio Northern in 1998 after serving as a pharmacy college faculty member for 20 years. She is a member of the Heritage Club at ONU where she has also established an endowed fund providing support for leadership development at the pharmacy college.
"It was an honor having Dr.Henderson at our match today to cheer on our Polar Bear student-athletes," ONU head coach Scott Wills said. "We appreciate all that she has and continues to do for Ohio Northern."
Dr. Henderson remains active in the profession of pharmacy and is being inducted this year as the Honorary President of the American Pharmacists Association.
Six of the eight members of the Polar Bear tennis squad are pharmacy students.
The Polar Bears will return to action March 15 with a home match against Oberlin.
