Women's Tennis opens season with 8-1 win over St. Francis (Ind.)

FORT WAYNE (Ind.) -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened up its 2013-14 season with a 8-1 win over St. Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears are now 1-0 on the season, while the Cougars now stand at 2-6.
In doubles play, the tandem of sophomores Christina Corbean and Rachael Miller won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomores Meghan Letizia and Taryn Stromback won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Letizia won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Stromback won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Miller was victorious by a 6-3, 6-4 score at No. 4 singles and freshman Brittany Toney won her first career singles match 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
ONU won be forfeit at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Friday, when it begins the three-day Oberlin Invitational.
