ADA — Four Ohio Northern student-athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference on women's tennis for 2010-11 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.
Freshmen Carly Olmsted (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Michelle Tuma (Cobourg, Ontario/St. Mary's) were First Team All-OAC picks, freshmen Emily Mueller (Vermillion/Elyria Catholic) was a Second Team honoree and sophomore Christie Gales (Westerville/Village Academy) was an Honorable Mention All-OAC pick.
Olmstead was 13-12 in singles, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot, and was 15-13 in doubles play, including a 13-9 record at No. 1 spot.
In OAC action, she was 7-1 in singles and 7-1 in doubles play.
Tuma was 16-15 in singles with a 6-3 OAC record at the No. 1 spot and was 18-13 in doubles with an 8-1 OAC record at the No. 1 position.
Mueller finished her rookie season with a 24-5 singles record, playing primarily at the No. 3 spot. She was also 24-7 in doubles, going 9-0 in OAC action at the No. 2 position.
Her 24 singles wins and 24 doubles wins are the fourth-best totals in ONU history, and her 48 overall wins is the third-most - just one win shy of the record 49 set by Kaitlyn Macdonal in 2005 and Rachel Randall in 2007.
Gales was 18-10 in singles, was 22-6 in doubles and was 40-16 overall, playing primarily at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles.
In her two seasons as a Polar Bear, Gales is 32-24 in singles, 41-15 in doubles and is 73-39 overall.
Ohio Northern went 21-6 overall, won the 2011 OAC Regular Season title with a 9-0 record and reached the finals of the OAC Tournament under 10th-year head coach Scott Wills.
