Women's Tennis tops St. Francis, Manchester in non-league matches

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team posted a pair of non-conference victories on Wednesday.
The Polar Bears (2-0) won at Saint Francis (Ind.) 6-3 Wednesday afternoon at Ironwood Racquet Club.
Northern then topped Manchester (Ind.) 9-0 in a neutral site match at Ironwood.
St. Francis falls to 4-6 and Manchester falls to 2-6.
Sophomore Christie Gales and freshman Kelsie Wurm each went 4-0 to lead the Polar Bears.
The pair combined to win twice at No. 3 doubles and each went 2-0 in singles play.
Against USF, Northern trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but rallied to win five of the six singles matches.
ONU swept all three doubles matches and all six singles contests.
The Polar Bears will return home next Tuesday with a doubleheader against Defiance at 2 pm and against Sinclair C.C. at 7 pm.
