Women's Tennis clinches share of OAC Regular Season title with 9-0 victory over Wilmington

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team won at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a 9-0 victory over Wilmington Tuesday afternoon at University Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 18-5 overall, 8-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference match play, while the Quakers fall to 3-8 overall, 2-5 OAC.
With their win today, ONU captured its second OAC Regular Season title in the last three years and the fifth overall.
Northern also clinched the No. 1 seed at next week's OAC Tournament.
The freshmen No. 1 doubles pair of Michelle Tuma and Carly Olmstead won 8-1 over junior Jessica VanWinkle and sophomore Lisa Brady.
No. 2 doubles was won by freshmen Lauren Rife and Emily Mueller 8-2 over senior Erin Cane and sophomore Michelle Reiber.
The doubles pair of sophomore Christie Gales and freshman Kelsi Wurm won 8-4 over juniors Jennifer VanWinkle and Holly Grady in No. 3 doubles.
Tuma won No. 1 singles over Jessica VanWinkle 6-1, 6-0.
No. 2 singles was won by Olmstead 6-0, 6-0 against Cane.
Mueller took No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1 over Reiber.
The No. 4 singles match was won by ONU's Gales 6-1, 6-2 over Wilmington's Brady.
Wurm won No. 5 singles over Grady 6-1, 6-3.
No. 6 singles was won by Rife 6-1, 6-1 over sophomore Kaitlyn Lentz.
The Polar Bears will finish the regular season by hosting Mount Union on Saturday at 1 p.m. on University Courts. It will also be Parent's Day.
ONU would win the OAC title outright with a victory over the Purple Raiders.
