Women's Tennis blanks Muskingum in OAC opener 9-0

NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its 2010-11 Ohio Athletic Conference schedule with a 9-0 victory at Muskingum Friday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-4 overall and are 1-0 in OAC action, while the Muskies fall to 0-1, 0-1..
Freshman Michelle Tuma and freshman Carly Olmstead combined to win at No. 1 doubles and Nos. 1 and 2 singles to lead ONU.
Tuma posted a 6-0. 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, Olmstread won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and the pair won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Emily Mueller won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, sophomore Christie Gales won 6-0, 6-1 at No. singles, freshman Lauren Rife won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and freshman Kelsi Wurm won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Mueller and Rife combined to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and Gales and Wurm won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday at Kenyon.
