Women's Tennis sweeps Saturday with 9-0 wins over Central State and Marietta

ADA — The Polar Bear women's tennis team earned two dominant wins Saturday afternoon at University Courts, with a 9-0 win over Central State followed by a 9-0 conference victory over Marietta.
Ohio Northern improves to 14-5 overall and 4-0 in the OAC. Central State falls to 0-2 overall, while the Pioneers fall to 3-7 (0-3 OAC) on the season.
Freshman Michelle Tuma (Cobourg, Ontario/St. Mary's) improved to 12-11 overall and 9-8 at No. 1 singles. She earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over CSU's Brandy Stewart and a tough 2-6, 6-2 (10-8) win over the Pioneers' Kristina Reed.
Freshman Emily Mueller (Vermillion/Elyria Catholic) picked up a win at No. 2 singles against Central State's Rachael Smith and another at No. 3 singles against Marietta's Mackenzie Boyles to move to 18-5 overall this season.
Freshmen Christie Gales (Westerville/Village Academy) and Lauren Rife (North Canton/Hoover) each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively against Marietta.
Muller teamed up with Rife at No. 2 doubles against the Pioneers for an 8-1 win and continues to lead the Polar Bear doubles teams with a 17-6 record.
The Polar Bears hit the road Tuesday for a dual match at OAC conference foe Heidelberg. The match is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
