Women's Tennis improves to 2-0 in OAC play with 5-4 victory at John Carroll

MENTOR — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 5-4 victory over John Carroll Saturday afternoon at the Paramount Racquet Club.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-5 overall (2-0 OAC) while the Blue Streaks fall to 2-9, 0-1.
Northern's No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams each picked up wins.
Freshmen Emily Mueller and Lauren Rife defeated the No. 2 doubles pair of Ashley Bauer and Athena Pappis 8-3, while sophomore Christie Gales and freshman Samantha Stulen won 8-3 over Emily Gorndt and Allison Mora.
No. 3 singles was won by freshman Carly Olmstead 6-1, 6-2 over Bauer.
Freshman Kelsi Wurm also won her singles match over Gorndt 6-1, 6-2.
Rife rounded out ONU's wins with her No. 6 singles match win Mora 6-2, 6-2.
The Polar Bears will travel to North Canton to take on Malone University at 6 p.m. Saturday night.
