Women's Tennis tops Warner, falls to Webber International on first day of spring break trip

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a split of matches on Sunday.
The Polar Bears (2-3) defeated Warner (Fla.) 9-0 at Lake Wales, Fla., Sunday afternoon after falling to Webber International (Fla.) 5-4 Sunday morning at Babson Park, Fla.
Junior Kristin Timperman and freshman Jenny Provost each went 2-0 in singles play and were 2-0 in doubles action to lead Ohio Northern.
Against Warner, ONU swept all nine matches en route to the victory.
Freshman Ashley Bonamer won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to set the tone against the Royals (1-5).
Timperman won 10-3 in a proset at No. 3 singles and Provost won 8-3 at No. 6 singles.
Bonamer and freshman Christie Gales won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles as the Polar Bears swept the doubles action by a 24-6 count.
Against Webber International (4-3), Timperman won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Provost won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Northern also won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Timperman and senior Mami Ito won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and Provost and freshman jenna Bittner won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Monday at 3 pm at Central Florida College.
