Women's Tennis team celebrates Senior Day with 9-0 victory over Muskingum

LIMA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 9-0 victory over Muskingum indoors at the Westwood Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-9 overall and 4-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Muskies fall to 2-11, 0-7.
With the victory, Northern clinches a spot in the 8-team OAC Tournament May 4-8.
Senior Mami Ito picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles and combined with junior Kristin Timperman to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Freshmen Ashley Bonamer and Jenna Bittner each posted a pair of shutouts for ONU.
Bonamer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and joined with freshman Christie gales to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Bittner won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and combined with freshman Jenny Provost to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Timperman posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, Gales won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Provost won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a double header Wednesday, playing at Wilmington in an OAC match at 3:30 pm and at Central State at 6 pm.
