Women's Tennis downs St. Francis 9-0

ADA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team won its first match of the year 9-0 over St. Francis (Ind.) in its home opener Thursday evening in the ONU Fieldhouse.
The Polar Bears are now 1-0 overall while the Cougars move to 2-7 overall on the season.
ONU freshmen Ashley Bonamer, Christie Gales, Kaitlyn Super and Jenna Bittner all collected their first singles and doubles match wins of their college careers.
In first singles, Bonamer defeated Renee Shetterly 6-2. 6-2 while junior Liz Bajusz won her number two singles match 6-2, 6-0 over Lauren Mey.
The two combined to win their number one doubles match 8-5 Shetterly and Rachael Anspach.
Gales won at third singles 6-3, 6-3 over Abby Cox and Super defeated Kinzie Gardener 6-1, 6-4 in number four singles action.
In number two doubles, Gales and Super defeated Mey and Cox 8-6.
Junior Kristen Timperman won her number five singles match 2-6, 6-1, 10-2 over Julianne Haines while Bitter won 6-0, 6-3 over Sarah Vietmeier in number six singles action.
Timperman and Bittner teamed up to defeat Gardener and Haines 8-6 in number three doubles.
Ohio Northern travels to Northwestern Ohio for a match at 10 am this Saturday.
