Women's Tennis notches victories over Wilmington, Central State

WILMINGTON -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team picked up a pair of victories Wednesday night, edging Wilmington 5-4 in a key Ohio Athletic Conference match and blanking NCAA Division II foe Central State at the Wilmington Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-9 overall and move to 5-3 in OAC action.
The victory over the Quakers moves ONU into a tie for fourth place in the OAC standings.
The top four teams host OAC Tournament Quarterfinal matches next Tuesday.
Freshmen Ashley Bonamer and Christie Gales won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and combined to win at No. 1 doubles for lead the Polar Bears.
Senior Mami Ito and junior Kristin Timperman combined to win at No. 2 doubles and Timperman posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles to provide the winning margin for ONU.
Against CSU, Northern swept all nine matches, out-scoring the Marauders 96-10, including a 24-2 mark in doubles play.
Timperman and freshman Jenna Bittner won 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.
The Polar Bears will warp up their regular season on Saturday woth a 1 pm contest at Mount Union.
