Women's Tennis posts third consecutive victory, tops Heidelberg 7-2 in OAC contest

ADA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis team had a stellar performance on Wednesday, posting a 7-2 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Heidelberg at Univeristy Courts.
The Polar Bears win their third straight match and the fourth in their last five to improve to 6-7 overall and move to 3-1 in OAC action, while the Student Princes fall to 3-8, 1-3.
Northern snagged doubles wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots.
At No.1, the freshmen duo of Ashley Bonamer and Christie Games defeated Heidelberg's Emily Naugle and Elizabeth Kurtzman 8-0, making the Polar Bear pair 9-1 in doubles competition for the 2010 season.
The No.2 doubles team of Kristen Timperman and Mami Ito also had a solid performance, defeating Kayla Gerber and Darcy Young 8-2.
Northern then won five of the six singles matches to secure the victory.
Freshman Jenna Bittner had an exceptional performance, defeating Linda Miller 6-0, 6-1.
At No.2, Gales battled against Heidelberg's Kayla Gerber winning the first game 6-3, falling in the second 6-2 and dominating the tiebreaker 10-3.
Northern also hosted the United States Tennis Association Kids Day Wednesday afternoon. Children got the opportunity to warm up with the team before singles competition began.
The Polar Bears will next compete at Baldin-Wallace this Saturday at 1 p.m.
