Freshman Abby Leatherman named OAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Abby Leatherman (Findlay/Van Buren) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 21-27.

This marks Leatherman's first career OAC Athlete of the Week honor.

The recognition comes after winning twice in her collegiate debut, a 167-37 win over Wilmington, and sweeping the breathstroke events in a 173-75 loss at John Carroll.

In the win over Wilmington, Leatherman took the 100 I.M. in 1:04.20 and the 50 free in :26.33. At John Carroll, she won the 100-yard breast in 1:11.44 and the 200 in 2:37.13.

The Polar Bears (1-1 overall, 1-1 OAC) return to action on Friday at Day 1 of the Calvin (Mich.) Quad at 6 p.m.
