Women's Swimming and Diving sweeps all 12 events in 167-37 season-opening meet with Wilmington

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team swept all 12 events and opened its 2024-25 season with a 167-37 victory over Wilmington on Friday night.

- Records: Ohio Northern (1-0 Overall, 1-0 OAC), Wilmington (0-2 Overall, 0-2 OAC)

Meet Highlights
- Senior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) won the 50 breast in :33.63 and the 100 free in :57.54.
- Freshman Abby Leatherman (Findlay/Van Buren) won twice in her collegiate debut, taking the 100 I.M. in 1:04.20 and the 50 free in :26.33
- Freshman Gillian Yoder (Waterville/Anthony Wayne) swept the diving events unopposed. She scored 193.35 points to win the 1-meter and 193.60 to win the 3-meter.
- Senior Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne) won the 50 fly in :29.06.
- Senior Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt. Notre Dame) won the 50 back in :31.66.
- Freshman Lily Wright (Cincinnati/Milford) won the 500 free in 6:07.15.
- Freshman Kate Kalmanowicz (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) won the 200 free in 2:05.75.
- The 200 medley relay team of freshman Teagan Stermer (Bradenton, Fla./Christian), Leatherman, Kalmanowicz and freshman Lila DeLong (New Albany) opened the meet by winning in 1:58.28.
- The 200 free relay team of Brown, senior Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East), Sterner and Kalmanowicz ended the meet by winning in 1:46.70.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 12 events, including 8 individual races, two relays and two diving events.
- The meet was originally scheduled for Oct. 18, but was postponed to Oct. 25.
- Austin Veltman is 27-28 in his seventh season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
