Women's Swimming and Diving sits third after second day of OAC Championships

AKRON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team is in third place after the second day of the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships meet Thursday night.

The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (6-7 overall)
- Venue: Ocasek Natatorium - Akron, Ohio
- Ohio Northern is in third place out of six teams with 153 points after six of the 20 events over a four-day span.
- John Carroll leads the team standings with 282 points, Mount Union is second with 234 points, Baldwin Wallace is fourth with 144 points, Wilmington is fifth with 126 points and Heidelberg is sixth with 17 points
Meet Highlights
- Northern began the night by finishing third in the 200 free relay. Junior Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East), freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.), senior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) and junior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) touched in 1:41.58.
- Bend was seventh in the 500 free in 5:27.73.
- Brown was fourth in the 200 I.M. in 2:14.62.
- Richters was seventh in the 50 free in :25.64.
- The team of fifth-year senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine), Brown, junior Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne) and Nelson wrapped up the night by finishing fourth in the 400 medley relay in 4:09.76.

- The meet consists of 20 events, including 13 individual races, five relays and two diving events.
- The top three individuals and top two relays in each event earn All-Conference honors.
- The top 16 finishers in each individual event and the two diving events score team points.
