Women's Swimming and Diving finishes ninth at Wabash (Ind.) Invitational

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team finished ninth of 10 teams after the third and final day of the 10-team Wabash (Ind.) Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational on Sunday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (3-3 overall, 2-1 OAC).
- Venue: Crawfordsville High School Aquatics Center - Crawfordsville, Ind.
- Ohio Northern was ninth of 10 teams with 236 points in the 20 events.
- Franklin (Ind.) won the team title with 1010.5 points, DePauw (Ind.) was second with 953 points and Centre (Ky.) was third with 895 points.
Meet Highlights
- Junior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) was ninth in the 200 fly in 2:18.32. Freshman Melina Roberts (Westlake) was 11th in the event in 2;21.15.
- Senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) finished 11th in the 200 back in 2:11.17.
- Junior Aburey Pritchard (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) was 20th in the 200 breast in 2:46.16.
- The 400 free relay team of junior Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East), freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.), Starkey and Brown were eighth in 8:30.40 3:45.96.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 20 events, including 13 individual races, five relays and 2 diving events.
- The meet is the sixth of 11 regular season contests and is the final event of the fall schedule for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 23-23 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
