Mara Brown posts two top-10 finishes to lead Women's Swimming and Diving on second day of Wabash (Ind.) Invitational

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Junior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) had a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team on the second day of the 10-team Wabash (Ind.) Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational on Saturday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (3-3 overall, 2-1 OAC).
- Venue: Crawfordsville High School Aquatics Center - Crawfordsville, Ind.
- Ohio Northern is ninth of 10 teams with 126 points through 12 of 20 events.
- DePauw (Ind.) leads the team standings with 586 points, Franklin (Ind.) is second with 554.5 points and Centre (Ky.) is third with 518 points.
Meet Highlights
- Brown was 10th in the 100 fly in :59.59. She was also 10th in the 100 breast in 1:11.22.
- Junior Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt. Notre Dame) was 13th in the 400-yard I.M. in 4:59.25.
- In the 200 free, senior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) was 27th in 2:05.89.
- Starkey finished 14th in the 100 back in 1:00.43.
- The 200 medley relay of senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine), Brown, freshman Melina Roberts (Westlake) and freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.) finished ninth in 1:54.99.
- The 800 free relay team of Nelson, Eversole, Bend and Starkey were ninth in 8:30.40.

- The meet consists of 20 events, including 13 individual races, five relays and 2 diving events.
- The meet is the sixth of 11 regular season contests and is the final event of the fall schedule for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 23-23 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.

- The Polar Bears will compete in the final seven events on Sunday. The seven swimming events begin with prelims at 10 am with the finals at 5:30 pm. The Diving competition will be held on campus at Wabash at 1 pm.
