Women's Swimming and Diving finishes fourth at Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Junior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) led the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team on the second day of the two-day Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet on Saturday at the Venema Aquatic Center.

Saturday's Highlights
- Ohio Northern finished fourth as a team with 360 points.
- Brown was second in the 200 fly in 2:18.5, was seventh in the 100 fly in 1:02.34 and was on two of ONU's three top finishing relay teams (200 medley relay, 400 free relay).
- Freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.) was third in the 100 free in :57.42 and was 10th in the 100 breast in 1:15.74.
- Freshman Melina Roberts (Westlake) was fourth in the 200 fly in 2:22.15, was 10th in the 100 fly in 1:04.64.
- Senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) was fifth in the 100 back in 1:02.34 and was sixth in the 200 back in 2:16.86.
- Junior Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) placed sixth in the 400 I.M. in 5:07.27.
- Junior Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East) placed sixth in the 100 free in :59.81.
- Junior Aubrey Pritchard (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) was 10th in the 400 I.M. in 5:29.79.
- Freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.) also had a top-10 finish, touching in tenth in the 100 breast in 1:15.74.
- The 200 medley relay team of Starkey, Brown, Roberts and Nelson began the morning with a seventh place finish in 1:58.55.
- Eversole, junior Sydney Selinsky (Dover/Tuscarawas Central Catholic), Roberts and Starkey were 10th in the 800 free relay in 8:58.19.
- In the last race of the meet, the 400 free relay team of Nelson, Richters, Eversole and Brown was seventh in 3:53.96.
- Calvin (Mich.) won the team title with 2112 points, Carthage (Wis.) was second with 689 points and Albion (Mich.) was third with 439 points.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 20 events over three sessions, including 13 individual races, five relays and 2 diving events.
- There were 6 events on Friday, eight on Saturday morning and six more in the final session on Saturday afternoon.
- The meet is the fifth of 11 regular season contests for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 23-23 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
