Brown, Fernandez, Grant, Richters named Academic All-District in Women’s Swimming and Diving by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Sophomores Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross), Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne), Annie Richters (Tory/Miami East) and senior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) were named Academic All-District in women's swimming and diving by College Sports Communicators.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women's Swimming and Diving Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March.
Brown is a 10-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree with 162 career OAC Championships points to her credit.
She was part of the OAC champion 400 medley relay team as a freshman last season and was also All-Conference in the 100 breast, 100 fly, 200 IM, 400 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Brown added All-OAC accolades in 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay events this season.
Fernandez has 38 career OAC Championships points. She was seventh in the 200 fly, 11th in the 100 fly and 12th in the 100 breast at the 2022 OAC Championships and placed 10th in the 200 fly, 11th in the 100 fly and 15th in the 100 breast at the conference championships this season.
Richters has 44 career OAC Championships points. She finished 11th in the 200 fly, 12th in the 50 free and 16th in the 100 fly in last year's OACs and was ninth in the 100 free, 13th in the 50 free and 14th in the 100 fly this season while adding third-place finishes as part of the 200 free and 400 free relay teams.
Grant is a two-time All-OAC honoree, earning the accolade in the 400 free relay as a junior and in the 400 medley relay this season. She has 129 career OAC Championships points.
Grant ranked second to Brown on the team in scoring 70 OAC Championships points this season. She placed third in the 200 free and 400 free relays, fourth in the 800 free relay, fifth in the 50 free, sixth in the 200 free and eighth in the 100 free in addition to her second-place finish in the 400 medley relay.
The Polar Bears finished 4-5 overall in dual meets this season and placed third at the OAC Championships.
