Shelby Starkey leads Women's Swimming and Diving to third place on Day 2 of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team is in third place out of nine teams after the second day of the Wooster Invitational on Friday.
The Polar Bears (2-2 overall) have scored 845.5 points through 13 of the 20 events and had ten different top-10 finishes on Friday.
Junior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) was second in the 100 back in 1:00.62 to lead Ohio Northern on Day 2.
Freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) and senior Mya Parsons (Castle Rock, Colo./Arapahoe) swam in the A finals of the 100 fly. Brown placed third in :59.65 and Parsons was seventh in 1:01.54.
Junior Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) was fourth in the 400 I.M. in 4:55.13 and freshman Aubrey Pritchard (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) won the B final of the event to finish ninth in 5:10.93.
Freshman Hayley Solomon (Cincinnati/Sycamore) finished fourth in the 1-meter diving with 262.10 points.
Senior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) touched fifth in the 200 free in 2:00.43. Junior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) and sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) also had top-10 finishes in the event as Grant was ninth in 2:03.24 and Bend was tenth in 2:03.45.
In the 100 breast, freshman Alina Miles (Manteno, Ill.) was ninth in 1:13.24.
Starkey, Brown, Shaw and Lubinski started the meet by placing third in the 200 medley relay in 1:50.15.
In the final event of the day, freshman Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt. Notre Dame), Starkey, Bend and Grant finished fourth the 800 free relay in 8:21.40.
The meet scores the top 24 individual places and each team's top two relays in each event.
Mount Union leads the team standings with 1050 points. Wooster is second with 938 points and NCAA Division II Edinboro (Pa.) is fourth with 792 points.
The third and final day of the meet will get underway Saturday at 10 am with swimming prelims at Wooster H.S. and the diving at 2 pm at the Timken Natatorium on Wooster's campus. The finals are slated for Saturday night at 5 pm at Wooster H.S.
