Women's Swimming and Diving wins 13 of 14 events, opens OAC schedule with 202-59 win at Wilmington

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team won 202-59 at Wilmington in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Friday night at the Wilmington Natatorium.
The Polar Bears (1-0 overall, 1-0 OAC) won 13 of the 14 events and had four different swimmers win two events each, led by seniors Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) and Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton).
The Quakers fall to 0-2, 0-1.
Lubinski won the 50-meter free in :27.82 and the 400-meter free in 4:51.79 and Shaw won the 50-meter breast in :38.89 and the 100-meter free in 1:06.32.
Sophomore Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) and freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) also won two events each.
Starkey won the 50-meter back in :32.71 and the 100-meter I.M. in 1:15.45.
Senior Mya Parsons (Castle Rock, Colo./Arapahoe, sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) and freshman Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt Notre Dame) won one event each.
Parsons won the 100-meter fly in 1:14.34, Bend won the 800-meter free in 10:14.77 and Eversole won the 200-meter free in 2:23.47.
Northern also won the 200-meter medley relay in 2:09.06 and the 200-meter free relay in 1:59.47.
The Polar Bears will return to action quickly with a Saturday tri-meet at Hillsdale (Mich.) with Alma (Mich.)
